Divine Mercy Sunday will be celebrated during all of our Masses this weekend. This is a very special day when “all the Divine floodgates through which graces flow are opened,” (Diary 699, Readings of St. Faustina’s Diary).
Pope John Paul II was canonized on the 2nd Sunday of Easter, April 27, 2014. It was he who designated this date to be observed as Divine Mercy Sunday in the year 2000.
In addition to our Sunday celebrations on April 12, a special devotion to the Divine Mercy is planned for Sunday afternoon, beginning at 2 PM at St. Raphael Church, Kittery. The service will include readings from sacred scripture, a homily, exposition of the Blessed Sacrament, readings from St. Faustina, the Chaplet of Divine Mercy, a Litany to The Divine Mercy, veneration of the Divine Mercy image, Benediction and song. Fr. David Affleck will be leading this service and all are welcome and ecouraged to attend.
